Coordinated by Travis Leo, the Cinergy Professional Development group, a meeting of the home automation masterminds, brought us to Hawaii to visit with dealers, manufacturers and their families for a week at the Westin Hapuna Beach on The Big Island.
The Westin provided FloWater dispensers to fill our DMF and Barco reusable water bottles all week with delicious filtered water. Hoping Steamboat lodging will soon offer this sustainable option available locally thru @pristinelivingco. #nosingleuseplastic
We enjoyed talking thru successes and struggles with industry colleagues while the whales breached offshore. Colleagues shared and laughed by the pool over Mai tais, while eating local fresh caught ahi and snapper. Visiting our longtime friend Dave Raife and his family to wave crash and boogie board near Mauna Kea was extra special, cause somehow it's easier to see them in Hawaii than in Aspen, idk.
A trip to O'ahu provided insight into the locals life - food and beach culture - with AHT Global's Hawaii office crew - Koa & Jenny Wagner. Their home automation and lighting design serves multiple islands with their star-studded clientele list. The Honolulu office neighbors the local bakery with Portuguese donuts called masaladas drizzled with sugar, and the local bkfst fav- a Loco Moco - hamburger and gravy over rice. An evening stroll with their wagon filled to the brim with fresh ahi poke, beach balls and chairs brought us to sunset whilst tiptoeing amongst crabs. Their hiking trails navigate whale watching cliffs, turquoise waters and glowing sand beaches where you'll find the community fishing, surfing and bbqing along the coast.
The north shore of Oah'u showed us the power of the ocean as a XXL swell attacked the coastline. The peeling waves of Waimea Bay brought surfers out of the woodwork to blast thru the barrels of salty sea. Their energy was palpable, reminiscent of a Steamboat powder day morning cresting thru the champagne snow with all our favorite local friends whooping and hollering.
Our own surf lessons solidified the family's newest hobby of catching waves with our awesome big wave surfer guides - Jake and Kanoa!
The island life brought foreign Polynesian culture mixed with Japanese and American ways to the forefront of our trip with Luau, hulas, mandolin music and "ohana."
We were immersed in the intriguing culture for 2 weeks, craving many more, to learn the language, work and play of this environment tossed with lava, earthquakes, eruptions, waves and winds.
